"Public School with the Private School Feel"
Meet the VAHS Principal

Diane Vargo
Vail Academy and High School
Diane Vargo has been serving students and families in the Vail School District since 2002 as a teacher, coach, and principal, dedicating her career to supporting students and building strong, connected school communities. She most recently served as the principal of Mesquite Elementary School where she led the school to earn both the A+ School of Distinction and the National Blue Ribbon of Excellence Award. She credits these achievements to the shared trust, dedication, and partnership among teachers, students, and families.
Growing up in a military family and attending many different schools, Diane quickly learned the importance of belonging and stability. Those early experiences shaped her belief in the power of safe, supportive school communities, and they continue to guide her leadership with high expectations, compassion, and a belief in every child’s potential.
Reflecting on her experience so far, she shares, “I love walking the campus seeing siblings and future graduates all learning and growing together.” Ms. Vargo remains honored to serve the VAHS community and is grateful for the students, families, and staff who make the school exceptional.
