Childcare Update

Childcare for Families Providing Essential Services

In an attempt to support essential services during COVID-19, the Vail School District is providing childcare services for children ages 3-12, as space is available, to families with children enrolled in the Vail schools.

Childcare will only be provided for families that are employed within the Governor’s essential services list.

Letter from Community Programs

March 24, 2020 - RE: Childcare for Families Currently Enrolled in Vail Schools

March 24, 2020

Dear Community Programs Families,

Vail Community Programs will continue to offer preschool and school-age programming for currently registered families during the school closure through April 10th with reduced hours of 8 am – 5 pm at each site.

Our school district serves many parents who are first responders, health care providers, military, law enforcement, or work at other critical jobs and cannot work from home, and we want to be able to continue to support those in need.

We are respectfully requesting that you only use this program if it is essential for work obligations and you have no other childcare options.

We are also asking that families enroll for programming through the Daycare Works Parent Portal. Please contact your site director to obtain your registration code. The registration for the next two weeks can be accessed Tuesday, March 24th through Thursday, March 26th at noon.

You must be registered to attend. If you need assistance with completing the enrollment process, please contact the billing office at 879-3938 or 879-3976.

For the next two weeks, Community Programs will be offering our regular full-time option and a part-time, 4-hour block for school-age care. You will be able to sign up for care 8am – 5pm for full time at $185/week, and for part-time care, you may sign up for either 8:00 am – 12:00 pm or 1:00 pm – 5:00pm at $80/week.

Preschool weekly tuition will continue to be billed at the school year weekly rate.

We appreciate your patience and support through these fluid times. We also understand the uncertainty of needing care and with that we will work with families who may need a change to care/schedules as the COVID-19 situation continues to unfold.

We also continue to thank our incredible employees for their commitment to provide childcare services during the school closure. The health and well-being of our students, families, and staff is of primary importance to us.

Please keep your child home from the program if you or your child has any of these symptoms:

  • Cough or other cold/flu-like symptoms
  • Fever
  • Shortness of breath

As an additional precaution for all those in the program, if your child is showing any signs of illness at drop-off or throughout the day, we will ask that you take your child home or parents will be called to pick them up early from the program.

The CDC also advises that you and your children stay home for 14 days if there has been any contact with anyone with a known Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection or who is currently under evaluation for possible exposure.

This situation is fluid and could change rapidly. As such, we will continue to update you with new information as it becomes available.  If you have further questions, please contact me.
